Another week has passed and i am starting to get used to the Australian life style and start to develop some habits..i get up at 6:30, cause the noise parrots wake me up …. Big spiders don’t freak me out too much anymore and I don’t stop every time I see a parrot to take a photo of it. Uni is dragging on, but I enjoy most of my classes. I absolutely love the photography class; after producing photograms for 2 weeks,we had to develop our first black and white film yesterday in the dark room. It was soo tough, cause I could’t see a thing, when I tried to get the film out of the container. It was even harder to put the film onto a roll thing, to wind it up and to put in a light-tight container, so that I could work with light again….geeze it took me for ever to do that in the dark!!!!But after putting 6 different chemicals like developer and fixer and what not into the little film developer container it was done and I had my first negativesJ
Total cool.
Monday i went to Bondi Beach with my flatemate’s brother and his girlfriend. We drove to the beach in their van, which was super old and run down, but quite cute and unique. But I wouldn’t have been surprised if the car had broken down on the streat, cause it was in such a bad condition. But maybe that’s why I really got a camper-holiday feeling from it when we were cruising around. At the beach I went to the Iceberg Swimming Club, which has a legen- wait for it- dary pool, with a great view on the ocean. But you can tell it’s becoming winter because a) there were less people at the beach and b) it was quite cold in the wind (eventhough I refuse to admit that it is cold in Australia). After swimming I started a facepainting with Felix on the beach, but it started raining after a while…so there we were, tree people sitting in the rain on the beach. But it turned out fine and I had a good photo anyway.
Then my weekend was less produktiv. I went on a 12km bushwalk on Sunday and walked around in Sydney on Saturday. The views were great, but the walk wasn't nearly as hard as the first one i went on. On Saturday i walked around on a couple markets and found my way into a store that had a huge sale going on and had reduced the prices from 30 dollar and more to 1 $ an Item. people were going crazy over the one dollar items and climbed onto tables and what not. They behaved like animals, and i was one of them cause i got a one dollar skirt;)However I had planed to go to the Blue Mountains with a friend on Saturday and do a facepainting there. But she drunk too much on Friday, so she canceled on me Saturday morning cause she had a hang over. What do we learn from that? Drinking doesn’t only affect your liver’s health but also the art-career of other people;)
Here a few more impressions from my daily life in sydney...
